Freaky Friday: Is that %#?@# for REAL?

We may laugh, we may cry, we may curse.  It may be thought-provoking or a much-needed no-brainer after an intense work-week.  Freaky Fridays are all about a change of pace, oddities, or simply off-topic posts.  So let’s get started!

This week’s topic is: Is that %#?@# for real?  The things we’ll do for beauty!  Everybody has to try at least one!

really facePoop on my face you say?  The nightingale facial is popular in Japan and is also known as the Geisha Facial.  It is thought to exfoliate, brighten and soothe the skin.  The urea found in bird poop may assist with moisture retention.  Who is down with boo-boo on your face for great skin?  It is rumored that our very own Tom Cruise and Victoria Beckhem is a big fan.  No wonder Victoria rarely smiles…

Fill my mouth up with grease!  Oil pulling involves swishing approximately 1 tablespoon of oil — typically coconut, sesame, or sunflower oil — in your mouth for about 20 minutes and then spitting it out.  Benefits? Studies show that it helps protect against gingivitis, plaque and bad breath as well as whitens.  I’ve recently began doing this one with coconut oil, because I’m not open to putting fecal matter on my face–this seemed easier and less smelly…

It’s not just for stomaches anymore!  Pepto Bismol is said to be a great face mask and shrinks pimples on the spot. “Pepto contains bismuth subsalcylate, which is closely related to the acne-fighting ingredient salicylic acid found in acne treatments”  Now this, I will consider, putting on thy face…

Gee, sure hope someone will buy me whale sperm for my birthday!  Whale sperm’s scent is described as marine, animal-like and sweet.  “Ambergris is a solid, waxy, flammable substance of a dull grey or blackish colour produced in the digestive system of sperm whales. As Ambergris ages, it acquires a sweet, earthy scent commonly likened to the fragrance of rubbing alcohol without the vaporous chemical astringency.”   So this Ambergris was/is/used-to-be added to fine perfumes.  Who knows if this is true, but it’s ultimately disgusting as hell…

Today, I will fill my bathtub with Top Ramen…ahhh…who needs Calgon?!  Supposedly, a high-end spa in Japan, now offers Ramen Noodle baths for clients.  Oh don’t worry–it’s pork flavor!  The pork in the noodles are said to contain collagen, which we know is good for our skin.  I like to eat my Ramen with an egg (true story)…

So there you have it friends!  Which will you try this weekend?  And what odd beauty regimens do you participate in?  Let’s hear it!
